General Admission is Free

General admission to the BMA is always free! Please reserve a free ticket before entering the galleries, available online or at the Welcome Desk. You’ll be asked to complete a brief survey to help us better understand and serve our visitors. Please note that free general admission does not include access to special ticketed exhibitions.

The BMA offers interactive guided tours for adults that highlight works from across the Museum. Tours include art from around the world made by artists who are Black, Indigenous, people of color, women, or from other historically underrepresented groups.

General admission to the BMA is free.

Ongoing support for free admission to the BMA has been provided through endowment gifts from the Cohen Family Fund for Free Admission, Lord Baltimore Capital Corporation, Mary J. and James D. Miller, James S. Riepe Family Foundation, and the DLA Piper Fund.

The BMA is located in the heart of Charles Village, at 10 Art Museum Drive near North Charles and 31st Streets. Learn how to get here and where to park.

Visitors may enter and exit the Museum through the Zamoiski East Entrance. The Merrick Historic Entrance is currently open for exit only.

The BMA is committed to making art accessible and expanding its resources and programs for all visitors.

General:
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be available at the welcome area and throughout the Museum.
  • Please do not use spray or aerosol sanitizer anywhere in the Museum.
  • Eating and drinking are not permitted in the galleries.
  • Smoking or vaping is not permitted in the BMA or Sculpture Gardens.
  • Service dogs are welcome in the Museum galleries and the Sculpture Gardens.
  • Please follow any instructions from Security Officers.
Photography:
  • Non-flash photography is allowed in collection galleries and sculpture gardens for personal, non-commercial use, except where noted.
  • Professional photography anywhere on Museum property must be approved in advance. For more information and to apply for approval, please contact rentals@artbma.org.
  • While at the BMA, visitors may be photographed by Museum staff. These images may be used by the BMA in print, online, and in signage.
In the Galleries and Sculpture Gardens:
  • Do not touch the art except where noted.
  • Limit phone calls to lobby areas and the Sculpture Gardens.
  • Sketching is welcome in the collection galleries with pencil only. To use other media, you must obtain advance permission by calling 443-573-1730. When sketching, paper or sketchbooks should not exceed 12 x 18 inches. Please be considerate of the other Museum visitors and do not obstruct traffic flow or sit on the floor.
  • See the family section for tips on visiting with children.
Checkroom:
  • All backpacks, packages, laptops, or items larger than 11 x 15 inches must be checked at the Checkroom. Locker space is limited.
  • For the safety and comfort of all visitors, large bags and luggage that cannot fit in our lockers must be placed in designated storage areas provided by the Museum. Please note that while these areas are out of public view, they are not locked or supervised. The Baltimore Museum of Art is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items. We encourage visitors to plan ahead and refrain from bringing oversized items whenever possible.
  • Backpack baby carriers and diaper bags must be checked. Strollers are welcome throughout the galleries.
  • Wheelchairs are available free of charge at the Checkroom.

We regularly install new artwork and enhance galleries to make your experience at the BMA even better. If you are visiting to see a particular artwork or gallery, please call 443-573-1701 to check its availability.

The E. Kirkbride Miller Art Research Library has a non-circulating collection of over 95,000 items.
