In correspondence with Director Tamsen Greene at Jack Shainman Gallery (October 2014, see object file), Toyin Odutola has indicated that she would prefer her nationality to be listed as "Nigerian born American" or, alternatively, "Nigerian American" in label copy; to accomodate the BMA system/listing of artists' nationalities in TMS, however, Toyin Odutola's nationality will be listed "Nigerian, active in the United States"

As of December 2015, artist prefers to have her middle name listed: "Toyin Ojih Odutola"
