Describing the world of imagery that he created for the “calculated pandemonium” of "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland", Barry Moser stated: “I have tried to keep the illustrations weird (yet reasonable), and grotesque (yet humorous), but I have not tried to make them pretty or graceful.” Moser’s compositions show the story unfolding from Alice’s point of view, effectively placing the reader in her head to see through Alice’s eyes the fantastical characters and objects she encounters on her adventures.
