Physical Qualities Silk, 40 1/2 × 38 1/2 in. (102.9 × 97.8 cm.)
Credit Line The Baltimore Museum of Art
Object Number 1990.3
Square of silk satin with sylized floral designs in Art Deco style printed in shades of orange, gold, hot pink, purple, and unprinted white with green foliage on a black ground. The reverse of the material reveals spike-like extensions on some of the flowers similar to designs by Alice Ruty Natter. These have been obscured on the obverse by the dye or ink used for the black background. The design and background appear to have been block-printed on the material. The vertical repeat is 21-1/4'; the horizontal repeat is 12-3/4'. The fabric is a satin weave. The sides are selvages; the top and bottom edges are unfinished.
