Wide rectangular strip, possibly a section from a tunic including a strip of natural plain-woven linen and a partial clavus of ornamental band. The ornamental strip includes two 1/8" wide stripes of blue thread on either side of a 2" wide strip of plain woven natural colored linen decorated with 10 polychrome (red and natural) heart-shaped motifs and 13 polychrome (green, light blue, natural, and very dark blue/black) "buds" tapestry-woven into the fabric. The 2" strip is .and further decorated with supplementary weft [brocading] creating red dots. Ground consists of linen warp and weft (S spun single) yarns plain woven in 36 warps per inch by 36 wefts per inch. Tapestry weft inserts are of wool as are brocading wefts.All four edges are cut and unfinished.
Fiber: warp and weft - linen, tapestry weft -wool. Yarns: warp and weft-S spun single yarns. Structure: Plain weave fabric with inset tapestry-woven designs and supplementary weft. YPI: 36 warps/inch by 36 weft/inch.
