Fragment of a larger textile such as a hanging in natural plain-woven linen with tapestry woven wool decorative motifs including a stripe approximately 2" wide delineated with two woven blue indigo stripes and filled with buds in red, green, pink, blue and yellow. Above this border is a large bird (possibly a duck).with gold and brown checkered body and green wings outlined in red and yellow/gold. The head of the bird is completely worn away and is only discernable from the gaps between warps. Additional red and pink buds are lined up in two rows in front of the bird. This fragment's edges are unfinished on all sides and very uneven and irregular, with missing corners.
Yarns: linen warp and weft-S spun singles, wool - S spun singles. Structure: plain weave ground, with inset tapestry designs. YPI: 26 warp by 32 weft (See Conservation Survey)
