Small rectangular slit tapestry-woven fragment featuring a central lobed rectangle of white decorated with rose motifs and surrounded by four diagonal white bands with multicolored (red, green, and blue) floral motifs set in a diamond configuration around the center medallion on a purple ground. A roundel with beige-gold ground and rose motifs is placed in the center of the fragment and half roundels with roses are set at the four cardinal points where the diagonal white sections join. Larger quarter medallions or remnants thereof with white backgrounds and rose motifs are placed in the upper left corner (and by extension were found in all four corners of original.) All are on a purplish background. This fragment remains from a larger piece. Small sections of what may be selvage ends are found at the upper [proper] left side;however, the borders of this fragment are uneven on all four sides. The tetile appears to have continued with different ground color on top and bottom sides. This fragment is slit-tapestry woven with weft-faced tabby binding. The warps are 2-ply wool yarns spun S and plied Z (30 yarns per inch) in natural color. The wefts are //s spun single yarns (76 per inch) in purple, white, green, and red, navy blue, and gold The right edge is bound with stitches (whip stitch?).Other edges are irregular and worn. The upper right, and lower right and left corners are not present.
