A silk grosgrain ribbon threads through 1/2 inch diameter tortoise-shell-like bakelite rings around opening of bag that gathers opening shut. Inside fabric is of black and gold brocade or black with metallic-wrapped supplementary (flat coppery) threads (similar to Chinese kinran) in a floral design.
