Hand-modeled, rounded body in impeccable form and surface finish. The bottle exterior has been slipped and fired in a reduced atmosphere. Fine burnish marks are visible. This example is typical of Chimú blackware that features a monkey applique at the spout juncture. In this example from Lambayeque, the monkey rests on the handle slope.
