Chinese woman's collar with numerous embroidered lappets. Collar has a blue satin section nearest the neck embroidered in butterfly motifs in multiple colors. Each section features a red lappet embroidered in blue and gold above a white lappet embroidered in multiple colors and gold. Each section is bound in black. The collar opens in the front with two silk cord and loop closures. The red lappets are embroidered with couched gold metallic threads in Chinese letters standing for: "Prosperity, Longevity, Happiness, and "Good Fortune" repeating every four lappets. Three of these have an additional embroidered butterfly worked in blue silks, the fourth features an embroidered bat. The white sections beneath are embroidered with symbols forming puns. All embroidery in gold is couched. All other embroidery is worked in exceedingly small Chinese knotted stitches.
