A length of printed textile yard goods consisting of plain-woven white linen featuring black silhouettes of the goddess Diana with drawn bow, a gazelle pierced by her arrow, her hound, and other gazelles or deer, all scattered within curling and "corkscrew" lines representing ironwork. The design is "in the style of" contemporary Art Deco artists such as William Hunt Diederich, Paul Manship, and Edgar Brandt. [see Museum of Fine Arts, Boston catalog.]
Both sides of the fabric are selvages. The top and bottom edges were originally cut and unfinished, but have sinced been hemmed to allow for exhibition. (Hem 1-1/2" at bottom and top casing 2-3/4" created for exhibition purposes by Louise Wheatley. See Conservation report.)
