Oblong, mold-made body. The bottle exterior has been slipped and fired in a reduced atmosphere. Burnish marks are visible. Stirrup spout marked by human head wearing tall, cylindrical helmet. Incised horizontal lines on upper vessel body suggest simulated shell. This example is typical of mass-produced Chimú blackware that features small protruding lugs at the base of the stirrup handle. In this example the lugs are shaped in the form of a frog.
