René Lalique designed this ring after visiting the stained-glass windows of the Chartres Cathedral in France. His first version was made in blue to resemble a droplet of water and reflect the windows’ dominant hue. The shape became a staple of the glassmaker’s firm and was produced in various colors and with various surface decorations. This dark purple example is carved with flowers highlighted with white enameled glass.
