Inscribed: In lower margin, the title. Below, "Premier Ministre de Sa Majeste le/Roy de Pologne Electeur de Saxe" In center of lower margin, a coat-of-arms which divides the title and inscription. In lower margin at left, just below engraved surface, "Sylvestre pinxit" which is scratched through with ink, and followed by "Louis De Silvestre premier Peintre/ de Sa Majeste le Roy de Pologne Electeur/ de Saxe" written in ink. Pencil note on mount reads: "First state before the artist's names and before the face on the personage was altered. Count Bruhl of Saxony, the great art connoisseur, who bought the paintings of the Sistine Madonna, Holy Night, Magdalen, etc." In lower right corner of lower margin, in ink, "785"
