A hound (braque) and a spaniel (épagneul) pointing at two partridges. The hound on the proper left is slightly ahead of the spaniel on the proper right. Behind and between the two dogs are a rock and a hollow stump. In front of the two dogs is what appear to be two boards (crossed). The composition is closely related to Deux chiens en arrêt sur des faisans (BMA 1972.4.24 and BMZ 1996.46.100 (Lucas MI 523). Base: oval rocky ground with rim.
