Physical Qualities Ink, mineral pigments, and gold, 254 × 184 mm. (10 × 7 1/4 in.)
Credit Line Gift of Saidie A. May
Object Number 1932.47.1
The illuminated manuscript page depicts a scene which takes place in a public bath as a barber is preparing to cut the hair of his client. Note the tiled wall and resembleance of the basin held by the attendant to the BMA's Ghaznavid period (977-1186) bronze basin. Particularly in Iran, India and Turkey, artists depicted figural scenes for privately-viewed albums or books.
