This bowl, badly broken and reassembled long ago, received extensive conservation in preparation for its exhibition. One typical approach—replacing missing pieces with sherds of a different vessel—was employed on it's previous repair. As part of its recent lengthy conservation treatment, the impressive bowl was entirely dissembled into its many original pieces plus others from a pre-1957 restoration to remove the residue of failing adhesive, clean every surface, more carefully and securely reassemble it, and sensitively create a uniform surface.
