Rectangular silk on silk memorial needlework with oval picture featuring woman in classical garb with large brown mantel standing beside a large, square monument with urn on top (not centered). The memorial is inscribed with the names and death dates of several individuals of the Guild family. A willow tree with extremely bent branches arches low over the woman and monument from left to right. In the distance are hills, buildings (including a church), and a clump of trees. The soft pink and blue sky in the background and the woman's face, hair, and one bared arm are painted. The remainder is worked in silk threads, including the lettering on the tombstone. The majority of the work is performed in satin stitch, giving a very smooth surface. Various greens (dark blue-green, dark olive green, lighter green, yellow-green, gold, yellow, and cream) are used for the landscape, which has several very flat sections of various colors, and green leaves. Shades of taupe and off white are employed for the gown and monument and portions of the background. Several shades of golden brown form the tree trunk and a darker grey brown is used in the cloak or outer drapery of the figure. The perimeter and corners of the silk (satin?) ground are empty of painting or embroidery. Nail holes are evidence of the embroidery having once been mounted on a stretcher. Black paint smudges indicate that it was once displayed beneath an églomisé mat.
