Peter Müller-Munk, a German-born designer working independently in the United States, attracted many clients with his sophisticated, streamlined designs. This sleek pitcher with a forward lean and a sharp prow recalls the S.S. Normandie, a glamorous ocean liner launch- ed by the French Compagnie Générale Transatlantique in 1935 as the largest and fastest passenger ship then afloat.
