In proportion, this vase resembles an ancient bronze ritual vessel (zun), but in size, it is more like another (gu). The special stippled or mottled effect was the result of powdered cobalt blown through a bamboo tube onto the moistened unglazed porcelain surface before it was covered by transparent glaze. unglazed porcelain surface before it was covered by transparent glaze.
