Bae photographs different parts of the same landscape in various seasons or times of day. Here, the setting is the mountainous pine forest surrounding South Korea’s royal tombs. For Bae, the trees embody the dualities of energy and stillness, vitality and tranquility. Across East Asia, pine trees are symbols of longevity.
