A small rectangular embroidery worked in multicolored (shades of green and blue, blue-green, gold, golden brown, ivory, dark greyish brown, pale gold, red, and black-brown) silk threads on a linen(?)-backed silk ground with painted background and details. The scene is adapted from a print entitled 'Spring' which was published with the verses of James Thomson's 'Seasons.' It depicts two young women in a landscape. One woman is standing with a bouquet of flowers cradled in her dress. The other is kneeling on one knee with a floral garland stretched between her hands. A basket of flowers is on the ground between them. Large trees and bushes fill in the background on the right while the left side reveals hills in the distance and tall grasses and a bush are in the foreground. The hands, bust, heads, hair, hats, dress ruffles, and shoes and stockings of the women are drawn and painted as is the sky and smaller tree trunks in the background. The rest of the image is worked almost entirely in satin stitches with small amounts of stem or outline.
