In these works, Connie Imboden photographed her subjects through scratched mirrors to fragment the body. Light catches faces and torsos that appear to emerge from the darkness, while the damaged reflection fractures the image into a dynamic combination of line, texture, and shadow. A longtime educator at MICA, Imboden helped establish Baltimore as an important center for experimental photography. Imboden currently serves as President of the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund, which supports the Baker Artist Portfolios and associated awards.
