Woman's brown wool fitted jacket and vest with long extended front panels (measuring 33" from the neck seam to the point end) and short back. The garment is ornamented in light brown wool appliqué cut in elaborate, vaguely "organic" scrolls outlined in darker brown cording and beige machine embroidery (note color of cording is somewhat different on left and right sides of the jacket). Appliqué covered 2" high stand up (Mandarin) collar, center back, front panels on both sides of closing down extended front panels, and at ends of flared sleeves. Additional ornament is provided by three sets of elaborate corded tassels attached to each of the front extensions. The attached vest (measuring 20" from the neck to the bound bottom edge) closes at the center front with thirteen covered buttons. The jacket and attached vest are tailored with princess line seams, which are bound in satin as are the edges of the vest. Appliqué appears slightly irregular as if cut and sewn by hand.
