Baltimore’s favorite late-night art party returns for an unforgettable celebration of the legendary artist Henri Matisse!
Enjoy after-hours access to three special exhibitions, artist-led making experiences, curated music, good people, and delicious food and drinks. Revel in Matisse’s use of color, light, and movement during an electrifying set by DJ Tromac. Sip specialty cocktails and sample tasty hors d’oeuvres by H3irloom Food Group. Express your inner creative through printmaking with Pyramid Atlantic, and make new friends in a live portrait-drawing interactive with artist Melvin Nesbitt Jr. Wander the galleries and snap a photo at the Matisse Selfie Station.
A stunning trio of exhibitions on view now—Matisse and Martinique: Portraits and Poetry; Fratino and Matisse: To See This Light Again; and Matisse in Vence: The Stations of the Cross—will be open throughout the night, but don’t forget to make your way over to the Museum’s internationally renowned Cone Collection to explore more works by Matisse. The BMA is home to the world’s largest public collection of his art.
This event is for adults ages 21 or older. The price of admission includes one free food or drink ticket and access to the ticketed exhibition Matisse in Vence: The Stations of the Cross.

Melvin Nesbitt Jr.
Melvin Nesbitt Jr. is a Baltimore-based artist known for his expressive painted paper collages that explore childhood, memory, race, and community. Drawing from his upbringing in a low-income South Carolina neighborhood, Nesbitt creates layered narratives reflecting the complexities of Black life, blending joy and struggle. Influenced by artists like Ernie Barnes and William H. Johnson, his work centers on children and everyday moments with warmth and emotional depth. He combines painted surfaces with collage to evoke the texture of lived experience and identity. Nesbitt is a two-time DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities Fellow and a DC Art Bank grantee. His art is part of collections in schools, government buildings, and universities. He illustrated the children’s book A Beard Like My Dad and hosts an annual collage workshop at his childhood school. His work has been featured in The Washington Post and Contemporary Collage Magazine, expanding the boundaries of collage and narrative art.
Pyramid Atlantic
Founded in 1981, Pyramid Atlantic is a nonprofit contemporary art center. Our mission is to sustain and elevate a welcoming arts hub in Hyattsville. MD that champions contemporary printmaking, papermaking, and book arts. We equip, educate, and exhibit while prioritizing artistic integrity, creative growth, and inclusivity. Our vision is to anchor an arts community that recognizes and uplifts the importance of artists, the intrinsic values of working with your hands, and the economy of artist-made work.
Tromac
Tromac is a seasoned Artist, Producer, DJ, and Curator from PG County based in Baltimore city. Their eclectic sets blend Baltimore Club, Ghetto Tech, Jungle and beyond with ease. Appreciation for Tromac’s artistry has led to their music being heard at renowned events such as Coachella, Movement, and Dekmantel. Tromac’s career as a musical multi-hyphenate includes a wide range of collaborations including Black Rave Culture, Zack Fox, and Cortisa Star.
Tromac’s expertise in event curation stretches from underground dance scenes and community organizing to large scale concerts and festivals. In 2022 Tromac conceptualized Break A Leg, a party series that aims to establish a safe space for all walks of life, inviting different communities to dance their pain away. Since then, this unique space continues to draw hundreds to thousands of attendees, solidifying it as one of Baltimore’s reputable event series.
