BMA Announces Return of Jazz in the Sculpture Garden
Popular summer concerts showcase acclaimed musicians Lao Tizer, Karen Briggs, Brandee Younger, Todd Marcus, and Virginia MacDonald
BALTIMORE, MD (May 4, 2022)—The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) announces the return of its renowned summer jazz series in the beautiful sculpture gardens. Three concerts feature nationally acclaimed musicians: The Lao Tizer Quartet featuring Karen Briggs (June 10), Brandee Younger (July 24), and Todd Marcus Quintet featuring Virginia MacDonald (August 13). General admission tickets are $50 for a single concert, $125 for a single concert and dinner, and $140 for the three-concert series. BMA Members receive an exclusive 25% discount for all ticket prices and bundles: $35 single concert, $100 single concert and dinner, and $95 three-concert series. Each concerts opens 30 minutes prior to showtime, so arrive early to claim your seat. Tickets are available online at artbma.org/jazz or at the BMA Box Office beginning Thursday, May 5.

Sunday, July 24, 11 a.m-1 p.m. – Brandee Younger
A leading voice of the harp today, performer, composer, and educator Brandee Younger defies genres and labels. Younger was recently nominated for a 2022 GRAMMY® for Best Instrumental Composition and NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Album.
Saturday, August 13, 7-9 p.m. – Todd Marcus Quintet featuring Virginia MacDonald
Bass clarinetist, composer, and bandleader Todd Marcus is one of the few jazz artists worldwide to focus their work primarily on the bass clarinet. Virginia MacDonald has established herself as a respected and sought-after musician in the Canadian jazz scene, winning a 2019 Stingray Music Rising Star Award and first prize in the 2020 International Clarinetist Corona Competition.
The BMA’s spectacular Janet and Alan Wurtzburger Sculpture Garden is home to 19 early modernist sculptures created by artists such as Alexander Calder, Isamu Noguchi, and Auguste Rodin. These sculptures are placed on a flagstone terrace with a fountain and abundant foliage. The BMA provides concert seating and concertgoers are welcome bring their own chairs or blankets for a picnic.

In the case of poor weather conditions, outdoor Jazz + Dinner reservations must be changed to indoor seating or rescheduled by calling Gertrude’s. There are no refunds or exchanges available after purchase.
On these specified concert days, if the skies are clear and the heat index is mild, the BMA will release more than 150 tickets for outdoor seating. In the event of inclement weather, concerts are held in the BMA Auditorium.
