BMA Celebrates Jack Whitten Exhibition at Art After Hours: Afropolitanism Party on June 22

Make art, explore the museum, and enjoy live music by Abdu Ali

BALTIMORE, MD (June 7, 2018)—Explore the extraordinary output of leading black artists with a global vision at the BMA’s lively Art After Hours on Friday, June 22 from 8 to 11 p.m. The theme of the evening is Afropolitanism, a movement that emphasizes the international influence of African arts and culture. Highlights of the event include the Odyssey: Jack Whitten Sculpture, 1963–2017 and Meleko Mokgosi: Acts of Resistance exhibitions, plus live music by Baltimore-based performers Abdu Ali and Sarah Hughes, and a variety of interactive art experiences.

Tickets are $25 general admission and $20 for BMA Members and can be purchased at the BMA Box Office or online beginning Friday, June 8, or at the door if tickets are still available. Tickets include after-hours admission to Odyssey (a $10 value), entertainment, and a free food or drink ticket. Beer, wine, cocktails, and light bites are available for purchase.
