Gourd vessel in basket; basket is made of a stick frame woven with leather thongs; vessel is a gourd with a braided fiber lip; lid is a dome-shaped piece of wood with a flat top marked with perpendicular lines on which is fastened a carrying rope (two lengths for criss-crossing across lid and one for attaching to the side of the camel). Lid serves also as a bowl (residue remains).
The Baltimore Museum of Art by gift, 1998; collected by donor in northern Kenya between 1970-1974 while on assignment for USAID.
