Large rectangular hooked rug (almost room size) worked in wool pile, probably on burlap (jute) ground. The center field includes a low basket or vase with a bouquet of flowers (possibly roses, but type not determined) in shades of pink and rose pink with two-toned leaves. The center field is surrounded on all sides with a wide border delineated with a solid thin line. The border is also worked in floral designs as well as scrolling vines. Each corner is set apart by the intersection of the lines of the border, and each has a floral design in the resulting corner block. At the center bottom are two overlapping hearts with a ribbon between them marked with two sets of initials [see below]. The floral designs are worked in lt. pink, medium pink or rose, dark pink, gold or dull yellow, red, and red-orange; the leaves in numerous shades of green from dark to light; the vines and stems as well as the outer edges of the border in dark brown' the basket in shades of brown and yellow; and outlines in black or very dark brown. The ground is a beige, mottled with grays and other tones. The rug is mounted to a cloth-covered stretcher frame with no mount showing.
