European print sources provided the imagery for the exquisitely painted sepia images of predatory foxes making off with a chicken and a swan on this Chinese export porcelain punch bowl. The motifs are European, but the monochrome painting echoes the feeling of Chinese ink painting. -David Park Curry, American Wing Reinstallation 2014
