Large shawl composed of white silk ground with polychrome silk embroidery featuring numerous figures engaged in various pursuits including dancing, etc. both in and without architectural settings, interspersed with floral/landscape designs. The embroidered center is surrounded by a plain area approximately 1/2" to 1" wide, then a 5-1/2" border of the same types of designs followed by another 1/2" to 1" unembroidered area and a 1-1/2" embroidered border consisting of floral, architectural and bird designs. The shawl is finished on all sides by a wide (20" to 21") white silk fringe. Colors include orange, shades of pink, rose, turquoise, medium blue, teal blue, lavender, violet, light green, white and black.
