A doubleweave coverlet composed of two loom widths each of 36", butted together and sewn by hand up the center. The field design consists of a repeating pattern 8 1/2" by 8 1/2", which is woven 9 1/2 times down the length and 6 times across the width. Each block contains a snowball motif with short "rays" emerging from a square of the opposite color. Two simple small squares are located at each corner of the block and a semi circular shaped band along each side. Where the blocks come together, a secondary block of 5 1/2" with cruciform arms and square block corners is formed at the intersections.
Surrounding the central field on three sides are borders consisting of 9 tree patterns on the vertical border and 6 tree patterns along the bottom border with a grid-pattern at each bottom corner and tree motifs across. Each block with a tree pattern has a repeat measuring 9-1/2" vertically and 8 1/2" horizontally. The top edge of the coverlet has no border, but is bound with a 1/2" hand woven tape stitched by hand. At the bottom edge, each layer is handstitched and a loose untwisted self fringe of navy and tan warps is present.
