During the Han Dynasty (206 BCE–CE 220), China established military outposts such as the Lelang Commandery (near presentday Pyeongyang) in Korea. The site was occupied for about 400 years beginning in 108 BCE, and over the course of that period, everyday items were brought from home, introducing Koreans to Chinese green lead-glazed and ash-glazed ceramics, like these vessels, two types which have been found at Lelang.
